"St. Catharines has everything we were looking for:
it's the right size, it's on the water, it has both a university and a
community college, and it's significantly underserviced. We are also
happy that we can live in a downtown neighbourhood. The Region as a
whole has so much to offer: the Shaw Festival, the Bruce Trail and the
Escarpment, not to mention the wineries and all the fresh produce! What
ultimately sealed the decision for us, though, was the chance to join
the wonderful group of physicians and allied health professionals
working in my Family Health Team."

"The main reasons why we decided to practice in the Niagara Region includes the attractive region in terms of nature and historical buildings; the romance of the wine region, multiple sports opportunities like golf, mountain biking, canoeing, and many more.  There is also the countryside atmosphere especially in the Niagara-on-the-Lake area with the tender fruit industry on your doorstep.

Good schools and several tertiary schooling facilities in the region are all favourable factors with regards to raising children.  Property prices are very reasonable still compared to most other provinces.   Travelling from this region especially abroad is much easier and quicker, taking into account the close proximity of 3 international airports.  With regards to work, the region offers the advantage that one can literally pick and choose the way you want to practice and is not forced to do all facets of medicine like in small communities.  This is a very important factor for quality of lifestyle."

"Living with a medical professional for most of my life, first my mother and then my wife, I have learned quickly that this is profession of the whole family and not only the individual practicing medicine. We all live through the ups and downs of the medical profession, through constant call schedules and long nights dedicated to patient care. This is especially true in the cases when the family of the medical practitioner decides to move from one town to another when in addition to all previously mentioned impacts of the medical practitioner on the family life, such families need to deal with spousal job placement, children's schooling, house hunting and thousands of details we all forget even exist until the time we decide to move.

It is only through people like Jill Cappa, and her dedicated work, that not only my spouse, as medical professional, have found the placement that will satisfy her professional thirst but Jill have helped me find a job placement, have introduced us to the schools in the area and in general made our journey from Toronto to St. Catharines a much easier one. Even today more than a year after we have moved to this area Jill often follows up with our family in order to ensure that we are all professionally and otherwise well and still happy in Niagara Region. Thank you Jill."

We chose the Niagara region for a number of reasons; proximity to family, leisure and entertainment, and climate. We have not been disappointed with the decision to relocate to Grimsby. Everyone has been very friendly and welcoming, the practice opportunities are good, and the lifestyle is good for family.
