No where else in Canada has the heritage been so carefully preserved as in the Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake. As the original capital of Upper Canada, the old town is still alive with character of the bygone era. Early 19th century homes and a picturesque main street have been meticulously restored and maintained. The town is home to many historic sites and monuments; Fort George, Navy Hall, Queenston Heights, Brock’s Monument, The Mackenzie Printery, the Niagara Society Museum, and more.

Niagara-on-the-Lake is also home to world renowned theatre with the Shaw Festival and its three theatres at various locations. The most famous attraction - the main street - offers a variety of unique gift shops and antique stores along with many fine restaurants to suit all tastes.

Rich farmland abounds throughout and Niagara-on-the-Lake has been often called the garden orchard and vineyard for Ontario. Of course, no visit would be complete without a tour of one of the many famous and award-winning wineries.

Cycle or drive along the Niagara Parkway and take in the incredible vistas on your way to Queenston where the wonderful historic art exhibits and books of the RiverBrink gallery reside.

The Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake is located in the northeast corner of the Regional Municipality of Niagara bounded by the Niagara River, Lake Ontario, the City of St. Catharines, and the City of Niagara Falls.
