Douglas Memorial Hospital Site - visit website
Fort Erie’s Douglas Memorial Hospital Site opened as a newly-built hospital in 1931, the result of a bequest from local family practitioner Dr. William Douglas. Today, this 57-bed community hospital is a centre for the delivery of patient services in the greater Fort Erie area, for a population of approximately 28,000. Inpatient Acute Care and Complex Continuing Care beds are sited here, with a number of outpatient programs in place to serve this busy border community, as well as a 24-hour Emergency Department. A new Methadone Clinic is now operating at the Site, and plans are underway to open a satellite Ontario Breast Screening Centre in the future. Douglas Memorial Hospital Site has 24 active physicians.
