For culture, entertainment or recreation, there simply isn’t a better location than the Niagara Peninsula. The wonder of Niagara Falls is always a draw for visitors with surrounding entertainment and recreation facilities in abundance.

Surrounded by major waterways, the Region offers a variety of watersports activities, from world-class rowing on the Old Welland Canal to sailing across Lake Ontario or simply sunbathing on a sandy beach. Watching the freighters or tall ships climb through the locks on the fascinating Welland Canal has always been a favourite past time. Now there are adjacent walking and cycling paths for its duration. And of course, the Niagara Parkway has its own renowned cycle and walking path travelling all the way from Fort Erie to Niagara-on-the-Lake.

The long season and tempered climate has made Niagara the golfing capital of Canada with over 35 state-of-the-art golf courses. Conservation areas with spectacular scenery, quiet hiking trails along the escarpment and family fishing are all part of the package.

Niagara-on-the-Lake, named the prettiest town in Ontario for many years running, is home to the highly-acclaimed Shaw Festival; Fort George; many other historic attractions; plus wonderful restaurants and shopping in the old town.

For music lovers, Brock University Centre for the Arts invites performing artists from around the world as well as our own Niagara Symphony. Outdoor concerts at Montebello Park and Lakeside Park thrive all summer long, and across the Niagara River, Art Park hosts world-famous entertainers.

Niagara truly is bountiful in its resources. The moderating effects of Lakes Ontario and Erie allows for a longer growing season and greater production per acre than anywhere in Canada, not to mention milder winters and pleasant summers. The Canadian wine industry has attained international acclaim as dozens of superb wineries dot the landscape. Gourmet restaurants, boutiques, winery tours, and highly-rated hotels and spas are abundant. The fruit and vegetable stands from the local farms are overflowing with produce, or you may pick your own. Plus, Niagara hosts many festivals to enjoy these gifts, such as the Grape & Wine Festival and the Peach Fesitval and Strawberry Festivals.

Niagara has a rich heritage and the many local galleries and museums, such as Rodman Hall in St. Catharines or Riverbrink in Queenston, have fascinating exhibits to discover. Plus, there’s the Albright Knox Gallery in Buffalo and Toronto is only one hour away.

For the team sports enthusiast, both Buffalo and Toronto have professional hockey, soccer, football, lacrosse and baseball teams and there are many minor leagues locally.
