Niagara is fortunate to house many talented health care professionals, yet current economical and political trends have seen the province designate areas of the Niagara Region as under serviced with support for family physicians.
Although this is an unfortunate situation, it means boundless opportunities for medical professionals. Under staffing guarantees a thriving patient base for those starting a practice or relocating in the area.
Doctors just starting up or relocating can qualify for a 15,000 dollar grant from the Ministry of Health. Plus individual communities offer considerable additional incentives, such as grant money, health club memberships and travel expenses for any doctors and their families.
There are full-time, part-time and locum positions available for family physicians throughout the region. Opportunities include family practice in established group, solo practice and walk-in clinic. The region’s hospitals offer emergency room shifts with excellent remuneration and local specialist back-up. Hospital and clinic-based specialist positions are also available in various communities and the region offers tremendous spousal employment opportunities.
The region is UAP designated for all 12 of our communities with excellent community support, including the ROMP program.
